Frequently Ask Questions

1. Exploring Our Collection & The Mother Plants

Do you sell the mother plants shown in the archive?

Our mother plants are the permanent foundation of Ginny Garden. Because they provide the core genetics for our entire nursery, they are generally not for sale. Instead, we carefully propagate and raise healthy young cuttings from this collection to share with you.

I saw a stunning specimen in The Mother Plant Archive, but it is not in the shop. Can I buy it?

Because careful cultivation takes time, not every mother plant has a propagation immediately available. If a specific plant catches your eye in the archive, please reach out to us. We are always happy to check our greenhouse to let you know when a propagation might be ready for you.

2. Purchasing & Plant Representation

Can I cancel my order or return my plant if I change my mind?

Because our plants are living organisms that experience natural stress during transit preparation, they cannot safely survive the journey of being shipped twice. To protect the welfare of these delicate specimens and ensure immediate export processing, all sales are strictly final upon payment. We are unable to accommodate cancellations, returns, or exchanges for subjective reasons.

Why does the plant I receive look different than the one on the website?

Living art evolves daily. Minor natural variations in leaf shape, color, and venation are entirely normal, and your plant will continue to develop its unique character as it grows. Additionally, depending on your device and screen settings, the actual color and texture of the plant may appear slightly different from our digital images.

Will I receive the exact plant shown in the photos?

Yes. Throughout our store, the images represent the exact plant you will receive. If a listing ever differs from this standard (such as a grower’s choice cutting), it will be explicitly stated in the product description.

3. Logistics, Packing & Couriers

How do you pack the plants to ensure they survive the journey?

Handling living art requires precision. Every plant undergoes a strict pre-departure evaluation. We utilize a specialized packing protocol designed to insulate the root system, protect delicate foliage from crushing, and regulate temperature fluctuations during transit.

Who do you use for couriers?

We partner with trusted logistics providers to ensure the safe transit of our living art. For international shipments, we rely on experienced partners including Thai Post EMS, Dragon Courier, CPN (Vietnam), and Air Cargo. For domestic orders within Thailand, we use couriers such as Grab (for same-day Bangkok deliveries), Thai Post EMS, and Kerry Express.

Will you ship the plant in its pot?

For international orders, strict phytosanitary and agricultural laws prohibit the export of soil. To ensure your plant clears customs safely, it will be expertly shipped bare-root, typically wrapped in premium, sterile sphagnum moss to maintain critical moisture levels during its flight. Domestic orders within Thailand may occasionally be shipped in their nursery pots depending on the courier.

4. Shipping & Customs

Do I need an Import Permit to receive my plant?

This depends on your country's regulations. Because we want this to be a seamless experience, please verify your local import laws to see if an Import Permit is required before placing your order. We are happy to work with you to align all paperwork before the box leaves Bangkok.

How many days does it take for the plant to arrive?

For international orders, most deliveries take between 3 to 7 days. Domestic orders within Thailand generally arrive via same-day courier (for Bangkok) or within a few days.

While we meticulously coordinate every departure, transit times are ultimately estimates rather than guarantees. Because global logistics involve unpredictable variables—such as extreme weather, carrier routing changes, or local customs inspections - we cannot assume responsibility for transit delays once the package is entrusted to the courier. We deeply appreciate your understanding that these external events are strictly beyond our control.

To ensure you are always informed, we provide complete tracking information for every shipment, allowing you to monitor its journey from our nursery directly to your door.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is calculated based on your destination and the specific weight and dimensions of your selection. The final delivery fee will be provided at checkout once your plants are selected.

What paperwork do you provide for international shipping?

Every international shipment is strictly inspected by the Thai Department of Agriculture (DOA). We secure the official Phytosanitary Certificate to guarantee your plant is healthy, pest-free, and legally cleared for travel.

5. Arrival, Acclimation & Policies

My plant arrived with a yellow leaf. Is it dying?

Travel is a significant transition for living organisms. It is entirely normal for a plant to experience "Botanical Jet Lag," which may include cosmetic yellowing foliage, dropped leaves, or minor root stress. This is a natural part of the transportation process and does not constitute a damaged or dead plant. With proper care, your plant will recover.

What is the Live Arrival Promise?

We strictly define "Live Arrival" as a plant delivered capable of resuming healthy growth. In the rare event a plant arrives structurally compromised or dead upon arrival, you must contact us within 24 hours of receiving the package along with your unedited unboxing video. If it fails to meet our standard due to factors within our control prior to carrier handover, we will work with you directly to provide expert recovery guidance or negotiate a fair resolution.

What should I do immediately after unboxing my plant?

Please remember to record a continuous, unedited unboxing video as soon as your package arrives. Once unboxed, your plant will need to rest and rehydrate in a stable environment before being repotted. We highly recommend reviewing our 5 Steps to Beat Shipping Stress guide for precise instructions on easing your new arrival into its permanent home.

6. Local Visits & Bangkok Pick-ups

Can I pick up my plants while I am in Bangkok?

Yes. If you are a local collector or visiting Thailand, we can arrange for direct handover in Bangkok to spare the plant the stress of courier transit. Please select this option at checkout or contact us immediately after ordering to coordinate a precise handover time.

Can I visit Ginny Garden to shop in person?

Ginny Garden operates as a private breeding and cultivation facility in northern Bangkok. While we are not open to the general public, we do welcome serious collectors for private viewings by appointment. You can request an appointment directly through our website.
